Job summary

Springboro Community City Schools in Ohio seeks an Educational Assistant at Springboro High School to support students with identified needs, helping them meet IEP goals and participate in daily classroom activities. The position is full-time, 7.25 hours per day across a 193-day contract, with the starting wage of $17.97 per hour and benefits as negotiated.

Qualifications

• Valid Ohio Educational Aide Certificate (may be obtained after employment).
• Must possess valid Ohio driver's license.
• Must pass criminal background check.
• Must be able to perform heavy lifting.

Responsibilities

• Assists students in completing academic assignments and self-help tasks in all curricular areas.
• Works with small groups of students to reinforce material introduced by the teacher.
• Accompanies students on class field trips or community experiences.
• Serves as a resource person to the evaluation team conferring about the assigned students.
• Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
• Assists the student(s) to whom assigned in such physical and personal daily tasks.
• Demonstrates positive relationship with students, staff and parents.
• Establishes a supportive and sympathetic relationship with students.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Works with pupil(s) with identified special needs, in an effort to provide them with the academic and emotional support needed to gain full benefit from the district's special education program. Reports to the building principal.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Assists students in completing academic assignments and self-help tasks in all curricular areas, working towards completion of IEP goals and objectives.
2. Works with small groups of students to reinforce material introduced by the teacher.
3. Accompanies student(s) on class field trips or community experiences.
4. Serves as a resource person, if and when requested, to the evaluation team conferring about the assigned students.
5. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
6. Assists the student(s) to whom assigned in such physical and personal daily tasks
7. Demonstrates positive relationship with students, staff and parents.
8. Establishes, as fully as possible, a supportive and sympathetic relationship with students.
9. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
