Job summary

The Brandon Valley School District seeks an Educational Assistant to support teachers and enhance student learning. Educational Assistant (BVMS Tier II)

Job Description

TITLE: EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Required – Equivalent to completion of twelfth grade.
  • Preferred – Earned an Associate Degree or higher, earned a minimum of 48 college credits or passed the ParaPro South Dakota test.
  • Some paid or volunteer experience working with children in an educational or child-oriented setting; or any combination of training and experience that could provide the desired knowledge and abilities.

REPORTS TO: Supervising Teacher, Principal and/or Director of Special Services

Performance Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers with the development and presentation of learning materials and instructional activities.
  • Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce skills.
  • Supervise students during recess, lunch and other activities as assigned.
  • Assist students with personal needs (i.e. toileting, brushing teeth) as assigned.
  • Maintain discipline of students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment:

Salary, benefits and terms to be established by the Board of Education.

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board’s policy on evaluation of classified staff.
