Job summary

Family- Albuquerque is seeking a part-time Recreation Leader to develop and implement educational and recreational activities at assigned Playground Recreation Program sites, ensuring children's safety and well-being while supporting higher level staff.

This safety sensitive position is part-time and temporary, with a maximum term of two years from the date of hire. Employment will automatically conclude two years from the date of hire in accordance with City policy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus 48 college credits including 15 non-remedial hours in Math and English.

Responsibilities

• Participate in planning and provisions of educational activities to develop social, emotional and cognitive abilities of young children.
• Assist in assessing progress and needs of children and discuss educational concerns with staff.
• Assist in arranging indoor/outdoor environments to facilitate developmental learning.
• Provide a safe and healthy learning environment indoors and outdoors; help in ordering and maintaining materials.
• Provide information and assistance to program participants.

1. Participate in the planning and provisions of appropriate educational activities to develop the social, emotional and cognitive abilities of young children; work with children to improve all developmental skills.
2. Assist in assessing the progress and needs of children; confer with appropriate staff any educational concerns.
3. Assist in the arrangement of indoor and outdoor environments to facilitate developmental learning.
4. Provide a safe and healthy learning environment both indoors and outdoors; assist in ordering and maintaining material for educational activities.
5. Provide assistance and information for program participants.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

• Perform Recreation Leader duties as necessary and/or assigned.
• Perform other job related duties as necessary and/or assigned.

High school diploma or GED and supplemented by forty-eight (48) credit hoursfrom an accredited college or universityto include fifteen (15) non-remedial hours in Math and English.

Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.

Environmental:

Classroom and outdoor environments; exposure to communicable diseases and noise.

Physical:

Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for waling, standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time; moderate or light lifting.
