Zusammenfassung

Bluegrass Community & Technical College in Danville seeks an Educational Advisor TRIO to deliver direct services that promote academic achievement, persistence, graduation, and transfer. The role provides case management within SSS for low‑income, first‑generation, and/or disabled students, reporting to the Director of Student Support Services.

Grant funded position. The incumbent will recruit participants, create individualized Success Plans, advise across academic and career areas, and

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree and four years of experience or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to commute to varied locations.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience providing individualized counseling or coaching.
• Knowledge of academic advising and career guidance.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and organized work style.

Job Summary

Responsible for developing and providing direct services to participants to facilitate academic achievement, persistence, graduation, and transfer. The Educational Advisor provides case management services and instruction to participants in Student Support Services who are low income, first generation, and/or disabled. The Educational Advisor reports to the Director of Student Support Services This is a Grant Funded Position

Job Duties:

• Assist in participant recruitment, selection, and intake.
• Develop and monitor individualized Success Plans with students.
• Provide career, personal/social and academic advising and instruction to all program participants.
• Organize and conduct workshops, field trips, study groups and other activities.
• Work cooperatively with college faculty, advisors, financial aid office, career counseling, transfer center, and other departments to coordinate services to SSS participants.
• Keep accurate records relating to services provided to participants
• Assist in the development and implementation of program evaluation activities.
• Conduct Summer Bridge program orientation and recognition events.
• Coordinate peer mentor activities.
• Participate in Student Development and Enrollment Management Division programs and services.
• Attend professional meetings and training sessions.
• Occasional travel, as needed
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years experience or equivalent
• Valid drivers license and willingness to commute in a variety of settings

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree

Additional Skills Requested:

• Experience/training in providing individualized counseling and/or coaching.
• Familiarity with academic assessment, advising and support and familiarity with career guidance and resources.
• Understanding of financial aid procedures.
• Knowledge and understanding of the unique needs of students requiring additional support.
• Demonstrated ability to relate effectively to individuals from a variety of backgrounds, building trust, fostering positive relationships, and providing supportive guidance to help them achieve their goals
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
