Job summary

Benioff Ocean Science Laboratory seeks an Education and Science Engagement Coordinator to administer education and science engagement programming at local schools and community organizations in the Los Angeles/Long Beach area, near the San Pedro port complex. The role will develop, manage, and deliver modules leveraging air quality data from sensor networks.

The position requires building relationships with schools and communities, managing logistics, and collaborating with UCSB and UC Berkeley

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field at time of application.
• Experience creating informal education modules and program materials is preferred.
• Ability to build partnerships with schools, communities, and organizations.

Responsibilities

• Develop informal after-school education modules focused on environmental data science and air quality.
• Administer education programming and deliver program content to students, teachers, and communities.
• Collaborate with schools and community groups to organize events, field trips, and activities.
• Build and manage partnerships with school representatives, teachers, students, and local residents.
• Manage logistics, budgets, and administrative tasks for education programs.
