Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Education is recruiting an Education Research Analyst to lead accountability and technical aspects of the state's accountability system. This position is located in Baton Rouge, LA, within the Office of Assessment, Accountability, and Analytics.

The ideal candidate will have a master's degree and strong experience querying and manipulating large datasets using SAS, SQL, R, or Python, with meticulous attention to data quality and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Generate results for assessment and accountability releases, ensuring all data is accurate, meaningful, and strictly aligned with state and federal accountability requirements.
  • Prepare district and school performance indicators, accountability metrics, and summary analyses for public, legislative, and federal audiences.
  • Conduct statistical analyses and predictive simulations to evaluate proposed assessment and accountability policies.
  • Advise the supervisor on critical reporting issues, operational risks, and emerging trends in assessment and accountability.
  • Respond efficiently to internal and external data requests, including inquiries from legislative bodies, state boards (BESE), and federal agencies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership to support agency goals.

We’re looking for an Education Research Analyst to lead responsibilities for the accountability and technical aspects over the state’s accountability system.

Minimum Qualifications

A master's degree in education, statistics, mathematics, or in a data analytics, data management, information technology, or social sciences field.

Job Duties

Position-Specific Details

Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to report to the Baton Rouge office as requested. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected.

Career Progression: This position participates in a Career Progression Group. As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as an Education Research Analyst 1/2/3, depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant.

Work Schedule: Workdays are Monday - Friday; work hours will be determined.

Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

Education Research Analyst 2 (TS-311)

Hourly: $26.32 – $40.45

Monthly: $4,561.27 – $7,011.00

Annually: $54,735.20 – $84,136.00

Education Research Analyst 3 (TS-313)

Hourly: $30.13 – $46.31

Monthly: $5,221.67 – $8,027.00

Annually: $62,660.00 – $96,325.00

  • Note regarding the advertised pay range:Beginning at the Education Research Analyst 1 level, this series have a special entrance rate (SER) of $22.98/hour that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions. The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career andnot the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
