Job summary

The South Dakota State Agricultural Heritage Museum is seeking an Education Coordinator to lead innovative learning programs in Brookings, South Dakota. This 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position centers on cultivating an ecology of learning around agriculture's past and present.

You will develop exhibits’ educational content, create curriculum for traveling displays, organize youth tours, coordinate SDSU Explore Tours, and foster partnerships with schools, colleges, and community

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, history, museum studies, or a related field.
• Experience working with children in an educational setting.
• Minimum of three years of related experience or a master’s degree in the identified fields.
• Organizational and project management skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated use of technology in managing and/or delivering educational programs.
• Demonstrated ability to research, develop, and deliver engaging education activities and programs.
• Knowledge of Federal and State standards and 21st century skills curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of educational programs and exhibits.
• Develop curriculum and activities for traveling exhibits.
• Plan and deliver youth tours and SDSU Explore Tours.
• Build partnerships with schools, colleges, and community groups.
• Coordinate marketing and promotional content.
• Oversee volunteers and student coordination; ensure alignment with mission.
• Ensure educational initiatives reflect the Museum’s mission and policies.
