Job summary

Amigos de Guadalupe Center for Justice & Empowerment in San Jose, CA, seeks an Education Coordinator to lead after-school, summer, and scholarship programs, working with the Education Manager and staff to advance student achievement and close opportunity gaps in East San José.

The role emphasizes implementation of California Common Core, social-emotional learning, and the 2-Gen family services approach, with emphasis on radical hospitality and community partnership.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Common Core Standards
• Proficiency in balanced literacy, lesson planning, and implementation
• Strong classroom management with PBIS, conflict resolution, and SEL
• Excellent classroom management in a child-centered program
• College degree in education or related field; credential preferred
• Experience with children in various school settings
• Experience with local educational/government/nonprofit agencies
• Ability to work in racially diverse, under-performing, low-income areas
• Must pass fingerprinting and background check
• CPR/First Aid training preferred
• Spanish bilingual preferred

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and evaluate after school and summer programs
• Support Scholarship Program implementation
• Assist in hiring, supervision, and evaluation of education staff
• Ensure a safe learning environment for all students and staff
• Maintain equipment and inventory for educational programs
• Provide case management for families' educational needs
• Support pre- and post-program assessments
• Adhere to the 2-Gen approach for students and families
• Practice radical hospitality with all community members
