Responsibilities

• Works with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning materials or skills introduced by the teacher.
• Assists the teacher in devising strategies for reinforcing material based on students' needs.
• Helps students master classroom materials and equipment and uses and maintains classroom tools.
• Reads to students, supports oral reading activities, and participates in other forms of communication with students.
• Maintains attendance records and assists with clerical duties as requested by the teacher.
• Substitutes for the classroom teacher when needed by the building administrator.
• Keeps student information confidential and upholds ethical standards.
• Participates in family nights and school activities as assigned, and supervises recess, meals, and movement periods.
• Assists during drills, assemblies, field trips, and emergencies, ensuring student safety.
