Job summary

Alabama State Department of Education is seeking a School Improvement Specialist (Education Specialist) to assist in supervision and evaluation of teachers and actively participate in planning and development in assigned areas. The position requires collaboration with leaders, conducting training, and leading curriculum development, alignment, and reporting.

Qualifications

• Current Alabama Teacher’s Certification is required.
• Master’s Degree or higher with endorsement in educational administration K-12.
• Minimum of three years experience as an English teacher.

Responsibilities

• Visits schools and observes classrooms to ensure consistency in instruction.
• Models lessons in classroom situations for observation by teachers.
• Analyzes achievement data and designs activities to raise student achievement.
• Conducts in-service training for instructional staff on best practices.
• Serves as a resource to school staff regarding instruction and student needs.
• Acts as liaison between teachers and administrators on curriculum matters.
• Leads curriculum development, alignment, and revision.
• Prepares statistics and reports related to instructional activities.
