Job summary

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) is seeking an Education & Engagement Assistant to join the New Works team in New York, NY. This full-time, salaried role reports to the New Works Director and the Member Services Director, supporting education initiatives and outreach to NAMT's members and partners.

Responsibilities include coordinating national outreach, developing curriculum for online events, managing the application process, organizing Winners Weekend logistics, and supporting

Qualifications

  • 2+ years administrative responsibility in an office setting.
  • Experience as a theatre administrator, educator or artist, and a basic understanding of the theatrical production process.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, Slack, Canva, Zoom and familiarity with database management systems.
  • Knowledge of, or a passion to learn more about, the regional theatre network, arts education, marketing, research and producing.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an in-person work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and track national outreach efforts; research/recommend/implement new outreach avenues.
  • Support marketing and promotional efforts including research, project design and outreach implementation via email and social media platforms.
  • Collaborate with NAMT students, artists, mentors, panelists, members or other partners in promotion efforts, curriculum-building and/or relationship-building.
  • Manage application process, from submission through selection.
  • Track applications in Submittable online portal and serve as key point of contact for applicants.
  • Manage communications with student applicants to address queries and provide support.
  • Support recruitment of NAMT Members, Alumni Artists, Educators and Partners to serve on the Challenge Feedback Team and Selection Committee.
  • Develop curriculum for NAMT’s free online education events.
  • Assist in research, planning and execution of events including outlines, scripts, slideshows and materials.
  • Collaborate with NAMT Alumni Artists to serve as Mentors for events.
  • Track and report registration for events and facilitate creation and distribution of attendee materials.
  • Maintain online educational materials and resources in NAMT Songwriting Resource Center.
  • Update Resource Center during NAMT’s writing campaign.
  • Serve as primary point person for Winners Weekend, for winners and chaperones.
  • Facilitate meetings between Student Winners and Challenge Mentors.
  • Manage travel and lodging logistics for Winners Weekend.
  • Provide detailed schedule to participants.
  • Be available resource for all needs during Winners Weekend.
  • Create and post annual Summer Internship listing for Challenge Alumni.
  • Distribute posting and encourage applications.
  • Participate in interview and selection process for interns.
  • Oversee interns and coordinate with staff on projects.
  • Assist with Festival prep and Volunteers coordination.
  • Serve as Line Producer where needed; assist with media activities.
  • Assist with grant programs and information sessions.
  • Plan Fall/Spring Conferences and online programming.
  • Develop educational events to connect NAMT Alumni and Members.
  • Attend festivals and conferences as NAMT ambassador.
  • Assist with NAMT staff operations during peak seasons.
  • Help maintain office infrastructure.
