Job summary

Delaware State University is seeking a Department Chair for Education in the College of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences. The chair reports to the Dean and represents the department to the administration and external partners while mentoring faculty and staff and administering departmental operations.

Key duties include curriculum development, program assessment, budgeting, faculty evaluations, and coordination of graduate and undergraduate offerings.

Qualifications

• Must hold a terminal degree in a field related to the department disciplines.
• Evidence of scholarship, teaching, and service commensurate with tenure expectations.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate academic programs (graduate and undergraduate) within the department.
• Promote academic quality and oversee faculty mentorship.
• Supervise and evaluate department faculty and staff; manage leave and development.
• Manage external grants, budget, and strategic planning.
• Oversee program reviews, assessment, and curricular development.
• Coordinate recruitment, retention, and advising of students.
• Represent department to administration and external constituencies.
