Job summary

Hunterdon Art Museum is seeking an Education Coordinator to develop and execute classes, workshops and programs in visual arts. You will manage registrations, liaise between students and instructors, maintain studios, and oversee K–12 programs to inspire creativity in students and visitors.

The role reports to the Director of Education and requires strong art education background, excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a safe learning environment.

Qualifications

  • B.A. or B.F.A. in Art Education, Studio Art, Fine Arts, Museum Education or related degree and/or experience.
  • Knowledge of current best practices in art education.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams).
  • Familiarity with Mainstreet (or similar) registration software and ability to maintain education page on website (Wordpress or similar).
  • Knowledge of Canva, Photoshop, In Design, or similar graphic design software.

Responsibilities

  • Process registrations, payments and student records.
  • Manage calendar of classes and workshops.
  • Serve as liaison to students, faculty and museum staff.
  • Organize student art showcases.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with other staff to implement departmental goals.
  • Stay up to date with current art trends and teaching methodologies.
  • Maintain studio environment and order supplies.
  • Schedule, lead and plan tours for the public, collaborate with others to create gallery guides.
  • Create promotional materials for classes and workshops.
  • Assist setting up and breaking down special events, workshops, and programs.
  • Oversee Summer Camp logistics in tandem with Director of Education and Summer Camp Assistant and Volunteers.
  • Represent the museum at off-site community events.
