Job summary

The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is seeking an Education Coordinator for Anvil Mountain Correctional Center (AMCC) located in Nome, Alaska. This role focuses on creating innovative educational programs within the facility and developing curricula for offenders.

You will work with a diverse offender population, design curricula for ABE, GED, Life Skills, and post-secondary options, and coordinate program delivery under supervision of a senior administrator.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in education, counseling, social or behavior sciences or a closely related field.
• One year of journey level paraprofessional experience in educational or vocational education programs or services. This experience is equivalent to work such as the Vocational Rehabilitation Assistant 2 or Education Program Assistant, and similar classes with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent with another employer.
• Additional qualifying work experience may substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the programs department at AMCC under supervision of our PO 3.
• Develop and deliver curriculum for ABE, GED, Life Skills, Vocational Education, and Post-Secondary education.
• Work with a culturally diverse offender population and address lifestyle and value differences.
• Collaborate on program development, design, and evaluation.
