Job summary

The Tri-County Community Action Agency is seeking an Education Coordinator for Wakefield, RI, to lead the education component of the Head Start/ Early Head Start programs. You will supervise teachers and staff, monitor child outcomes, and ensure curriculum fidelity and regulatory compliance.

Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Early Childhood Education with RI teaching certification and have several years of lead-teacher and supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Experience as a lead teacher in an early childhood environment for at least five years.
• Three years of supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Southern Region Head Start Program

General Responsibility

Oversee and coordinate the education portion of the Head Start Program. Adhere to Professional Development Plan based on the RI Workforce Knowledge and Competencies, DHS Child Care Licensing Regulations and the Head Start Performance Standards.

Specific Responsibilities

The Education Coordinator provides leadership, management, and professional expertise to the educational component of the Early Head Start and Head Start program which includes blended Head Start/State Pre-K classrooms. Specific responsibilities include regular formal and informal supervision and support for classroom staff including teachers, teacher assistants, support staff, and substitutes; monitoring child outcomes; monitoring the implementation of early childhood curriculum; ensuring quality of instruction; overseeing the fidelity of curriculum implementation; ensuring compliance with Head Start Performance Standards; facilitating the substitute/volunteer program and hiring of education staff including ensuring compliance with all background checks and health requirements for staff; maintaining compliance with the Bright Stars Quality Rating and Improvement System; and maintaining compliance with childcare licensing regulations. The Education Coordinator is part of the Head Start management team therefore candidates must work well in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and a valid Teaching Certificate through the State of Rhode Island is required. Must have experience in an early childhood environment as a lead teacher for at least five years. Three years of supervisory experience is preferred.

Special Qualifications

Must have knowledge of RIELDS, Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework, DHS Child Care Licensing Regulations, CLASS Bright Stars, ECERS and ITERS. Must be highly organized, enthusiastic, have strong communication skills, and relate well to children, families and staff.
