This position is housed in the Office of Assessments, Accountability and Analytics and reports to the classified Education Consultant Supervisor. The person in this position will implement programs that further the development of statewide assessment and support the integration of the Louisiana Student Standards for Social Studies, instructional best practices, and assessments specific to social studies. This position is essential as Louisiana’s social studies assessments continue to evolve. Some responsibilities of this position include developing, reviewing, and constructing social studies assessment items aligned to the Louisiana Student Standards for Social Studies; providing support to LDOE teams, school system leaders, and educators; creating assessment resources; monitoring the scoring of social studies assessment tasks; analyzing the results of the state's social studies assessments; and facilitating various assessment review committees.
The person in this position should have social studies teaching experience; possess in-depth knowledge of Louisiana Student Standards for Social Studies and effective social studies instructional practices; be familiar with social studies assessments; demonstrate excellent communication skills; and be able to handle several, detail-oriented projects at the same time without sacrificing quality.

Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected.
Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
Work Schedule: Workdays are Monday - Friday; work hours will be determined.
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
Note regarding the advertised pay range: The Education Consultant series has a special entrance rate (SER) of $28.96 hourly, $2,317.20 biweekly that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions. The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career and not the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
