Job summary

Broward County Public Schools in Fort Lauderdale, FL, seeks a Chief Information Officer to lead the planning, procurement, implementation, operation, support, and maintenance of district IT systems that sustain education and business operations.

The CIO will work with senior leaders to improve cost effectiveness, drive strategic IT initiatives, and ensure alignment with the district’s goals. Extensive executive IT experience and ERP proficiency are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, business administration, educational technology, or related field.
• Minimum of ten (10) years within the last fifteen (15) years of executive IT experience including eight (8) years or more of direct IT management.
• Experience leading and managing functions interfacing with IT clients, processes, and systems.
• Experience with customer focus and establishing SLAs in complex environments with multiple platforms and vendors.
• Knowledge of business principles, planning, HR, change management, and cost analysis; integration capabilities including ERP, data warehouses, and enterprise systems.
• Proven skills in written and verbal communication, vendor and contract negotiation, budgeting, planning, and relationship building.
• Successful implementation of ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise IT staff in alignment with district goals.
• Provide strategic IT vision and interact with senior leadership and the School Board.
• Monitor major IT projects and report deviations to leadership.
• Foster relationships with education leaders to support IT needs.
• Communicate IT plans and trends across the organization.
• Develop a performance-driven IT organization focused on cost-effective services.
• Direct IT architecture, technology and operations to meet district goals.
