Widener University in Chester, PA seeks a Director of the Center for Education for a 12-month appointment starting Fall 2027. The Director will hold a tenure-track faculty appointment and lead the Center's academic, research, and clinical programs, aligning with the university's mission and strategic plan.

The role oversees curriculum development, PDE compliance, program budgeting, personnel supervision, and partnerships with LEAs.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in Education or equivalent from an accredited institution.
• Current licensure/eligibility for licensure in Pennsylvania if applicable.
• Experience with PDE standards and external compliance for teacher preparation.
• Five or more years in a relevant field with administrative responsibilities.
• Three or more years in higher education with potential for tenure-track appointment.
• Proven teaching effectiveness and scholarly inquiry in education/administration.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Knowledge of teacher preparation, certification, and education delivery systems.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Responsabilités

• Provide oversight of the Center's academic, research, and clinical programs.
• Lead faculty and staff selection, evaluation, and mentoring.
• Develop and manage the Center's budget in consultation with College leadership.
• Create a strategic plan aligning with Widener's mission and partnerships.
• Supervise Center staff and direct reports; oversee faculty workload.
• Build and sustain relationships with LEAs for field placements and student teaching supervision.
• Coordinate student teaching and PDE compliance including PDE reporting responsibilities.
• Serve as PDE Certifying Officer and liaison for PDE standards.
• Lead curriculum development and program assessment; expand professional development opportunities.
• Participate in governance and maintain regular office hours.
