This position collaborates with state and district staff to provide training and technical assistance for the recruitment and identification of children eligible for Title I, Part C Education of Migratory Children services. Responsibilities include supporting districts in developing recruitment plans, timelines, and procedures; producing training materials; and ensuring efficient processing of student records. The position also manages statewide Title I-C data collections and submits required reports to state and federal stakeholders. This includes querying data systems and verifying the accuracy of all information prior to submission to the Alaska Department of Education & Early Development and the U.S. Department of Education.

This position is part of a collaborative, close-knit team that values service, strong working relationships, and teamwork. Our process-driven approach ensures consistency across all team members, while also offering opportunities for professional growth and advancement. Telework and flexible scheduling is permitted for candidates who meet eligibility requirements; however, occasional in-person attendance may be necessary, particularly during the Title I-C’s fall training season.
Our Juneau office is located on the 9th floor in the State Office Building and our Anchorage office is located in the Atwood Building’s Suite 810. The offices have cubicle space with good lighting and are close to restaurants and shops.
This position involves daily interaction with a wide range of stakeholders, including school district central office staff, superintendents, principals, teachers, contractors, and DEED colleagues. Communication occurs through phone, email, in-person meetings, and the preparation and delivery of written and oral technical assistance documents and presentations. Duties of this position may require the incumbent to travel to rural Alaska.
This position requires the incumbent to travel to remote parts of Alaska at all times of the year, sometimes in small aircraft or by small boats or ferries. Occasionally, this position is required to spend the night in a school, sleeping in the facility, as there are no hotels in the community. This position conducts statewide training (either virtually or in-person) on the identification and recruitment of migratory children during the months of August and September. Personal leave may not be available to the incumbent during August and September.
(1) Graduation from an accredited college, preferably in administration and/or education. AND One year of experience as an Education Associate 2 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
OR
(2) Six years of experience in the broad field of education, counseling or administrative services, two years of which were at the technical/paraprofessional.
OR
(3) Any combination of the above.
Substitution: In option 2, graduate study may be substituted for the required specialized experience on a year-for-year basis. Undergraduate study, preferably in administration and/or education may also substitute for the generalized experience in option 2 on a year-for-year basis.
