ArtsWorcester offers a flexible and joyous work environment in the visual arts. Job candidates do not need to be an artist, or have museum or gallery experience. Candidates must bring an enthusiasm for ArtsWorcester’s mission, a warm, welcoming demeanor, an eagerness to learn, and an understanding and appreciation of the diverse communities that form ArtsWorcester.

Responsibilities
  • Managing all aspects of Future Arts Workers of Worcester (FAW), a youth career development program in arts administration for select Worcester Public high school students. Responsibilities include teaching the weekly curriculum, evaluating its outcomes, facilitating their gallery exhibition, managing the apprentices, hiring and supervising an educational intern.
  • Serving as program host and Worcester County coordinator for Assets for Artists. Responsibilities include program facilitation in partnership with Assets for Artists staff, hosting skill‑building workshops, and developing alumni networks and relationships.
  • Managing education events: plan and host artist talks, workshops, and other public educational events for gallery exhibitions.
  • Managing membership events: plan, facilitate, and evaluate quarterly artist meet‑ups.
  • Assisting with gallery operations: host Saturday gallery hours, assist with special events, artwork pick‑up, and other programs as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field
  • 1‑3 years professional or significant volunteer classroom or out‑of‑school programming with high school students
  • A passion for the arts in general
  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a car
  • Reliable in‑person presence in Worcester
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and Canva
Compensation

The Education and Outreach Manager position pays $53,000 to $56,000 annually.

A health‑care stipend, equivalent to one‑half the employee’s cost of a Silver Plan with dental and vision insurance on the Massachusetts Health Connector, is provided as a payment in lieu of benefits.

ArtsWorcester contributes 2% of gross salary into an Individual Retirement Fund for each employee, regardless of individual contributions.

Three weeks’ paid time off is provided, in addition to paid time off between December 23 and January 2, and all state and federal holidays. This position is exempt.
