Overview

The International Studies Office will select undergraduate student interns to work in the Education Abroad division for the 2026-27 academic year. Interns serve as a resource for other UVA students by supporting the Education Abroad Advisors and assisting with events and activities.

Responsibilities

• Event support, including preparation and implementation of major events such as Education Abroad Fairs.
• Presentations to various groups throughout the UVA community (e.g., academic classes, CIOs, Greek chapters, residence halls).
• Support walk-in and phone traffic at the International Studies Office front desk.
• Hold regular peer advising hours.
• Develop resources and programming for students interested in education abroad (e.g., Global Week event, student-led pre-departure information session).
• Provide administrative support for the Education Abroad team.
• Create and post flyers, chalking, and painting.
• Contribute to UVA Education Abroad social media channels.
• Tabling and other duties and projects as assigned.

Compensation

Interns will be expected to work 10-15 hours per week at a rate of $15.25/hour. Interns work in person with regular time in the International Studies Office and at events around Grounds.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Current undergraduate UVA student.
• Experience: Previous experience with education abroad at UVA.

Physical Demands

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The position may occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.
