Job summary

Level is seeking a Technical Designer to sit at the intersection of design, engineering, and pedagogy, guiding learning experiences from concept to polished user-ready products. You’ll work closely with pedagogy experts and cross-disciplinary teams, ensuring audience feedback drives positive product iteration.

This hands-on, force-multiplier role blends design and technical building, with a focus on scalable content and engaging, standards-aligned learning experiences for students and educators

Qualifications

• 3+ years of design, product design, or interactive content development.
• Experience scripting or modding in a game engine environment (Unreal, Blueprints, Lua, Godot, or comparable tools).
• Basic UI/UX sensibilities and ability to recognize good experience design.
• Proven rapid prototyping track record, shaping tools/content toward outcomes.
• Passion for cohesive, polished experiences and end-user empathy.
• Strong cross-functional communication to translate design, engineering, and product needs.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams at startup pace.
• Portfolio or work samples showing instructional design, interactive content, game design, or animation (include link).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on a multi-disciplinary team to deliver end-to-end instructional design for core EdTech learning content, from concept through production.
• Produce high-quality, cohesive learning modules and activities with attention to detail across a growing content library.
• Create and implement animations and visual content that is pedagogically relevant.
• Partner with content specialists, product managers, producers, UX/UI, and engineers to translate instructional intent into polished, interactive experiences.
• Apply principles of UX/UI, integration design, and systems thinking to new learning activities.
• Drive the playtest feedback loop and ensure findings translate into content improvements.
• Design with extensibility in mind for broader use cases beyond the initial ask.
• Work with teachers, engineering, product, and UX to keep alignment on what’s built and why.
• Leverage AI and generative AI tools to accelerate content development workflows and improve quality at scale.
• Evaluate and refine AI-assisted content for pedagogical soundness and alignment.
