We’re seeking a detail-oriented, solutions-driven Re-Entry Finance Specialist to join our Re-Entry team in the Success Coaching Center. Every day you’ll make a meaningful difference by providing dedicated financial case management for former ASU students striving to return to their education. You will help students move past complex financial and administrative barriers that stand between them and enrollment, including financial aid, satisfactory academic progress, outstanding balances, holds, collections, payment arrangements, and scholarship eligibility.

As the Re-Entry team’s primary point of coordination, you will partner with offices across the university to guide time-sensitive cases from identification through resolution, building trusting, collaborative relationships with students and colleagues along the way. Your work will directly support ASU’s broader re-entry strategy across digital and campus immersion populations, all while adhering to established policies and guidelines.

Essential Duties

  • Owns and manages complex financial re-entry cases from identification through resolution, including outstanding balances, financial holds, collections, late fees, in-house payment plans, cost-of-attendance issues, and other financial barriers to enrollment. Provides individualized coordination for students regardless of scholarship eligibility.

  • Serves as the Re-Entry team’s primary financial liaison, coordinating cases across Financial Aid Support Services (FASS), Student Business Services (SBS), Enrollment Services, academic units, and other university partners. Processes include time-sensitive SAP reviews, financial aid questions and documentation, all while maintaining continuity and clear next steps for the student.

  • Reviews student accounts and financial circumstances to identify barriers, applicable resources, required actions, and appropriate escalation pathways; communicates complex financial information to students in a clear and supportive manner.

  • Manages scholarship and financial-support processes for returning students, including applications, eligibility review, fund coordination, corporate-partner benefits, and related enrollment agreements or requirements.

  • Supports specialized re-entry transactions and administrative actions, including program reactivations, graduation audits, and other case-specific steps needed to establish a viable pathway back to enrollment.

  • Maintains accurate financial case tracking and documentation, including regular case-status reporting, scholarship budget monitoring, and follow-up on unresolved or escalated cases.

  • Monitors case volume, resolution timelines, balance trends, SAP outcomes, and recurring barriers; analyzes data and communicates findings to inform operational decisions; recommends workflow, policy, communication, or coordination improvements to improve student return rates.

  • Partners with Re-Entry Enrollment Coaches and Specialists to provide coordinated support so financial casework does not interrupt outreach, engagement, or the student’s broader re-enrollment journey.

  • Works effectively in a fast-paced, policy-dependent environment with time-sensitive deadlines, detailed financial information, and multiple concurrent cases requiring accuracy and follow-through.

  • Maintains appropriate confidentiality and follows university policies and procedures when handling student financial and educational information.

  • Assumes or coordinates other duties or projects as assigned or directed.

Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of a bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field.

  • Evidence of a people-oriented approach with experience guiding others through education-related financial processes and decisions.

  • Evidence of effective and persuasive communication and presentation skills.

  • Experience working with online programs and students in a higher education environment.

  • Experience developing, facilitating, and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with populations.

  • Experience using Salesforce, MS Office and Google Suite.

  • Evidence of strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills, with excellent attention to detail.

  • Experience following guidelines, structure, and established policy to deliver accurate and precise information.

  • Experience working with financial aid, student accounts, or related financial processes.
