Job summary

Custom Software Systems, Inc. in Washington, DC is seeking an EDP Cloud Engineer to support our Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) in a secure AWS GovCloud environment. This hands-on role provisions, automates, monitors, and troubleshoots cloud infrastructure using IaC, Git-based version control, and CI/CD tooling.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of IT experience, strong AWS/networking skills, and DevOps/CI/CD background. Location is Washington, DC; 100% onsite with US citizenship required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of Information Technology experience in an enterprise environment.
• Experience with Scrum, Agile engineering, Lean methodologies, and/or DevOps.
• Experience with DevOps and CI/CD technologies such as Azure DevOps, Git, GitLab, Jenkins, Puppet, Docker, Confluence, SonarLint, and JUnit.
• Working knowledge of core AWS services and concepts (VPC, EC2, S3, IAM, EKS, CloudWatch, CloudTrail).
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code concepts and experience with Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
• Experience with GitLab/GitHub/Bitbucket; GitLab preferred.
• Familiarity with CI/CD processes and monitoring/logging (CloudWatch, CloudTrail).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provision, configure, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot AWS infrastructure supporting EDP development, test, and production environments.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, and other approved automation technologies.
• Support CI/CD pipelines used to deploy infrastructure and platform configurations across development, testing, and production environments.
• Maintain infrastructure code and configuration in Git-based source-control repositories, preferably GitLab.
• Configure and administer AWS networking components, including VPCs, subnets, route tables, security groups, service endpoints, and connectivity.
• Support infrastructure associated with containerized workloads running on Amazon EKS/Kubernetes.
• Configure and maintain platform monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and health checks.
• Monitor and analyze AWS CloudWatch logs, metrics, and CloudTrail events to identify issues.
