Job summary

heyco, a PennEngineering company, is seeking a skilled EDM Wire Machine Operator / Toolmaker to join our toolroom in Toms River, NJ. The role focuses on programming, setting up, and operating wire EDM machines to produce precision tooling and components to tight tolerances.

Requirements include EDM certification or 3–5 years of wire EDM experience, Charmilles machine familiarity, and CAM programming (Espirit).

Qualifications

• EDM certification or 3–5 years of hands-on wire EDM experience.
• Experience with Charmilles wire EDM machines preferred.
• Proficient in CAM programming (Espirit preferred).
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, comparators, etc.).
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Set up, program, and operate wire EDM machines to manufacture tooling, dies, and precision components
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accurate machining
• Perform edits and adjustments to programs as needed to optimize performance and quality
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications
• Troubleshoot machine or process issues and make necessary corrections
• Maintain proper documentation of work performed, including program revisions and inspection results
• Work closely with engineering and toolroom teams on new tooling and process improvements
• Perform routine maintenance and keep machines and work area clean and organized
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies
