Job summary

Novo Precision is seeking a skilled Wire EDM Operator to join our Bristol, CT manufacturing team. You will set up, operate, and monitor Wire EDM equipment to produce high-precision components according to engineering drawings and quality requirements.

The ideal candidate has experience in precision manufacturing, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work with tight tolerances. Previous WEDM experience is preferred, but candidates with strong CNC machining experience and a willingness

• Experience operating Wire EDM (WEDM) preferred.
• CNC machining or precision manufacturing experience will also be considered.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Understanding of dimensional tolerances and basic GD&T preferred.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gauges.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Wire EDM equipment to manufacture precision components.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
• Perform machine setups, including loading programs, selecting tooling and fixtures, and positioning workpieces.
• Monitor machining operations and adjust to maintain quality and efficiency.
• Inspect completed parts to ensure dimensional and quality requirements are met.
• Follow manufacturing and quality procedures and work with team to resolve issues.

Position Summary

Novo Precision is seeking a skilled and dependable Wire EDM (WEDM) Operator to join our manufacturing team. This position will be responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring Wire EDM equipment to produce high-precision components in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a precision manufacturing environment, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work with tight tolerances. Previous Wire EDM experience is preferred; however, candidates with strong CNC machining experience and a willingness to learn WEDM processes are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Wire EDM equipment to manufacture precision components.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
• Perform machine setups, including loading programs, selecting appropriate tooling and fixtures, and positioning workpieces.
• Monitor machining operations and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
• Inspect completed parts using appropriate measuring equipment to ensure dimensional and quality requirements are met.
• Work within tight tolerances and follow established manufacturing and quality procedures.
• Troubleshoot basic machine, setup, and cutting issues.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Accurately document production, inspection results, and other required manufacturing information.
• Work closely with Programming, Engineering, Quality, and other members of the manufacturing team to resolve production issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, quality, and efficiency.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating Wire EDM (WEDM) equipment preferred.
• CNC machining or other precision manufacturing experience will also be considered.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Understanding of dimensional tolerances and basic GD&T preferred.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gauges.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to perform machine setups and make necessary adjustments during production.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.
• Ability to work independently while also working effectively as part of a team.
• Basic computer skills and ability to accurately complete production documentation.

Preferred Experience

• Wire EDM setup and operation.
• WEDM programming experience.
• Experience machining complex, high-precision components.
• Experience working with tight tolerances.
• CNC machining, Swiss machining, or toolroom experience.
• Experience in a precision manufacturing or metalworking environment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to safely enter and exit company vehicles and perform loading and unloading duties.
