Job summary

The EDM Operator at HellermannTyton North America reports to the Tool Room Supervisor and sets up, programs and operates sinker and wire EDM machines to produce components from 3D models or drawings in the Faulkner Tool Manufacturing department. You will create Mastercam programs, prepare electrodes, and manage tooling to maintain tight tolerances.

You will perform weekly machine maintenance, inspect electrodes with precision gear, and file programs in the proper storage system.

Qualifications

• 5+ years operating and programming EDM machines for plastic injection molds.
• Proficient in CAM programming and Mastercam preferred.
• Strong ability to hold tolerances of +/- .0005 inches.
• Skilled in using precision measuring equipment.
• Proficient with computer to archive programs under proper folders.

Responsibilities

• Set up parts and create programs using Mastercam; set up electrodes for sinker and wire EDM machines.
• Create programs to finish core and cavity detail as discussed during job meetings.
• Operate supporting equipment (surface grinders, hole popper, cutoff saw, etc.).
• Perform weekly machine maintenance.
• Maximize machine utilization and program for unattended operation during off shifts.
• Inspect machined electrodes with precision measuring equipment; interpret CMM reports.
• File documents and programs in the appropriate file storage system.
