The Opportunity

The Aerospace Applications Engineer supports the sales force from a technical applications engineering perspective, focusing on aerospace engine component manufacturing for test cuts, machine demonstrations, and customer startup and training. This role involves working with multi-axis (3, 4, and 5 axis) EDM machining techniques on state-of-the-art machines, primarily focusing on EDM fast hole drilling for film cooling holes in turbine engine components.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Perform test cuts and machine demonstrations for aerospace parts, primarily turbine engine components.
  • Provide applications engineering support to sales by visiting customer facilities and assisting with machine and turnkey proposals.
  • Set up, generate NC programs, build tooling, conduct prove-outs, and complete test cut requests from sales inquiries leading to machine orders.
  • Perform customer start-up training and transfer technical knowledge at customer facilities.
  • Support turnkey execution activities.
Required Skills
  • Proficient in CAD/CAM generated CNC programming, Siemens NX a plus.
  • G&M code programming.
  • Macro-based programming, Fanuc Macro B knowledge a plus.
  • Knowledge of EDM condition process development such as Ton, Toff, voltage, amperage is a plus.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to interface professionally with potential customers.
  • Technical aptitude, creative problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical field, or 5+ years of related experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience with aerospace engine component manufacturing.
  • 1-3 years of experience with setup, programming, and operation of multi-axis EDM or machining centers.
  • Prior experience with Makino machines is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel regionally (~25%).
