Job summary

Organization of American States (OAS) is seeking an Officer/Editor to join the Editorial Services Unit in Washington, DC. The incumbent edits verbatim Minutes and prepares clear, accurate records for the General Assembly and related bodies, while ensuring quality and timely delivery.

The role also involves editing other OAS documents, reviewing colleagues’ work, and contributing to ongoing modernization of editorial processes. Strong language proficiency and MS Office skills are required.

Qualifications

  • Essential: First University Degree in Communication, languages, journalism, humanities or related area with 4 years of relevant experience OR Advanced University Degree with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Desirable: knowledge of OAS mandate and priorities and project management experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related editorial software.

Responsibilities

  • Edit verbatim Minutes and summaries of General Assembly, Permanent Council, and related bodies to produce a clear, accurate permanent record within deadlines.
  • Edit other OAS documents and publications as needed.
  • Review work of other editors and provide guidance on editorial style and queries.
  • Assist in administrative tasks to expedite unit work.
  • Support ongoing technological modernization within the Editorial Services Unit.
