Job summary

The role involves handling author/editor communications, proofreading, image editing, newsletters, metadata, and distribution to indexing partners, with a strong emphasis on accuracy and timelines.

Qualifications

• College degree preferred and a minimum of three years of publishing experience or a combination of education and experience.
• Proven command of editing and/or proofreading skills.
• Working knowledge of publication processes and procedures.
• Ability to work across teams with a variety of projects and workflows.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating content assets using a content management system (document submission, component, and web).
• Compiling material for web and print publication of journal articles and issues according to a defined schedule.
• Responding to and resolving queries from authors, editors, and publishing partners.
• Coordinating author and editor reviews of page proofs and corresponding with stakeholders to meet deadlines.
• Copy editing books, journals, magazines, eNewsletters, and online databases.
• Editing images (resizing, scaling, cropping) for web and print, tagging content for composition.
• Compiling and composing e-mail newsletters, pages of books, final programs, datasheets.
• Optimizing PDFs, adding metadata, and uploading to online publishing CMS.
• Converting source documents for web publishing (eBooks and downloadable documents).
• Proofreading and verifying accuracy of content for web and print.
• Archiving electronic and hard-copy assets.
• Coordinating distribution of published content to Library of Congress, abstracters, and indexers.
• Ensuring ASM standards and styles are met using provided tools and style guides.
