Job summary

AAAS is seeking an Editorial Manager in Washington, DC, to lead a production-focused team within Science Advances. You will supervise Editorial Coordinators and Associates, coordinate with the AME, and drive process improvements to streamline manuscript handling from submission through publication.

You will guide staff on editorial and production workflows, manage schedules, and ensure quality control while mentoring staff growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, or a science-related discipline; Masters preferred.
• 5–7 years of professional experience; editorial management experience preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to lead a team.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a team of Editorial Coordinators, Senior Editorial Coordinators, and Editorial Associates with day-to-day guidance.
• Oversee team administration including timesheets and leave requests; escalate concerns to AME.
• Collaborate with Editorial Management and AME to identify process improvements and efficiency.
