Job summary

Shore Publishing is seeking a detail-oriented Editorial Assistant to support content production and audience engagement across its weekly newspapers and digital platforms. You will help manage reader-submitted content, assist with digital distribution of newsroom reporting, and contribute to community features and special publications.

In this role, you will support editorial workflow, adhere to AP style and deadlines, and collaborate with reporters and editors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or related field preferred.
• One year of newsroom reporting or editing experience, preferably at a community newspaper.
• Familiarity with newsroom CMS and social media platforms, email newsletters, and digital publishing tools.
• Understanding of newsroom production cycles and print deadlines.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a weekly newsroom environment.
• Excellent editing and proofreading skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient computer and software skills.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of AP style and journalism ethics.
