Job summary

The Massachusetts Medical Society in Boston is seeking a Manager, Editorial Operations to lead the Editorial Operations team, overseeing workflows and production schedules and supporting editors and Journal sections. You will mentor staff and coordinate with publishing partners to improve efficiency.

A Bachelor's degree and 5+ years in academic publishing are required, with supervisory experience preferred. The role offers flexible work options, including onsite and home-based work.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of academic publishing experience are required.
• Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
• Must possess strong interpersonal as well as oral and written communications skills.
• A knowledge of computer software systems, especially ScholarOne, is essential.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Directly manages junior staff within Editorial Operations and oversees day-to-day work.
• Regularly meets with staff and prioritizes workload.
• Leads sub-teams and critical tasks within Editorial Operations.
• Participates in hiring and onboarding for new roles within the group.
• Collaborates with NEJM Production departments to ensure smooth handoffs of accepted manuscripts.
