Job description

Ankler Media is looking for a highly organized, resourceful Editorial Assistant to support the CEO and Editor-in-Chief, as well as The Ankler’s broader editorial operation in Los Angeles.

This is a hands-on role for someone who moves quickly, thinks on their feet, anticipates what needs to get done before being asked and is comfortable working across departments. The ideal candidate is interested in how a modern media company works — from producing newsletters and researching stories to managing a busy executive calendar, coordinating meetings and travel, supporting live events and helping keep the newsroom running smoothly.

The Editorial Assistant will provide administrative, editorial and operational support to the CEO and Editor-in-Chief, as well as Ankler’s editorial and design teams. The role will also work closely with colleagues across sales, marketing, audience, events and other parts of the company, often helping coordinate projects and priorities across multiple teams.

This position is based in Los Angeles and reports to Ankler Media’s Executive Editor.

Responsibilities
Editorial & Production Support
  • Assist with production of Ankler newsletters and websites, including creating and formatting posts in WordPress and helping prepare and send newsletters.
  • Assist with research, fact-checking, proofreading and other editorial needs.
  • Coordinate and schedule editorial meetings and help prepare agendas and other materials.
  • Provide project and operational support across editorial, design, sales, marketing, audience and events, helping keep cross-functional projects organized and moving forward.
  • Assist with Ankler live events, including occasional on-site production and operational support.
Executive & Administrative Support
  • Manage the calendar of the CEO and Editor-in-Chief, including scheduling and coordinating internal and external meetings.
  • Coordinate travel for the CEO and Editor-in-Chief and other senior staff as needed, including flights, hotels and ground transportation.
  • Help prepare meeting materials, agendas and background information for the CEO and other senior leaders as needed.
  • Anticipate scheduling, travel, meeting and operational needs and resolve issues quickly as they arise.
  • Place and coordinate orders for food, flowers, office supplies, merchandise and other company needs.
  • Help manage day-to-day operations of Ankler’s Los Angeles office, including mail, shipments, packages and deliveries.
  • Prepare and circulate Zoom links, agendas and meeting materials.
  • Support subscriber communications, including responding to inbound emails and helping resolve subscriber questions and requests.
Skills & Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of administrative, editorial or related experience; strong internship or entry-level experience will be considered.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work quickly and calmly, think on your feet and exercise good judgment in a fast-moving environment.
  • Proactive and highly anticipatory, with an instinct for spotting what needs to happen next.
  • Comfort working across different departments, personalities and priorities, and an ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at every level of the company.
  • Resourceful and comfortable solving problems independently.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and shifting deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, including Docs, Sheets and Slides, and comfort using tools such as Slack and Zoom.
  • Familiarity with WordPress, newsletter platforms or other publishing tools is a plus.
  • Strong interest in media and entertainment; enthusiasm for journalism and live events is a plus.
  • Comfortable handling both editorial assignments and administrative tasks with equal care.

Salary Range: $52,500–$55,000 annually, plus benefits. This role also pays overtime.
