Responsibilities

  • Work with Editor in Chief to develop and plan content for AN.
  • Oversee print production, editorial calendar, and production efforts across AN Media Group.
  • Manage delivery schedules with internal team and freelancers.
  • Edit and fact-check print articles; supervise copy editors and proofreaders.
  • Input and edit digital content for CMS (WordPress).
  • Write for print and online publication when possible.
  • Support invoicing and editorial budget management.

About the Role

AN Media Group is currently accepting applications for a Senior Editor to report to the Editor in Chief. This dynamic role requires an ambitious, sturdy individual who wants to supervise print publications and who can meet challenges with a creative, solutions-driven approach. The Senior Editor works closely with the Editor in Chief and VP of Content to deliver print editions of The Architect’s Newspaper and AN Interior. This editor will also support the publications’ respective websites, in addition to other editorial and administrative responsibilities. The Role
Responsibilities
  • Work with the Editor in Chief and editorial team to develop and plan content for AN
  • Oversee day-to-day operations relating to print production, editorial calendar, and any production efforts across AN Media Group’s wider operations
  • Establish and maintain print delivery schedules with the AN team and outside freelancers
  • Manage meeting dates for creative approvals with AN team and outside art directors
  • Manage assignments and assets for print content
  • Top edit and fact-check print articles
  • Manage freelance copy editors and proofreaders
  • Finalize issue details with Art Director and editors
  • Support the creation of digital content for online use, including editing content and inputting into CMS (WordPress)
  • Write when possible, both for print and online publication
  • Supervise invoicing process and monitor editorial budget set by Editor in Chief
  • Enhance the staff culture by fostering timely communication regarding key initiatives and projects across AN Media Group teams and departments
Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience managing a slate of multiple projects simultaneously
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working full-time on print or web publications
  • A minimum of 5 years copy editing experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of in-office work experience
  • Expert user of Chicago Manual of Style
  • Minimum academic achievement of Bachelor’s degree in architecture, journalism, or communications
  • Has knowledge of Adobe InCopy, InDesign, or other desktop publishing program
  • Has experience working collaboratively with others on strict deadlines
  • Has knowledge of and interest in architecture urbanism, design, and related fields
