Editor (Social Short-form Doc Style Content)

This is a Contracted position in the field of Sales / Marketing / Advertising / PR / Social Media, located in Pittsburgh, PA.

Beneath the Rust is hiring a multi-platform Content Editor. We're looking for a creative editor to help us give a voice to those in Forgotten America and the addiction and recovery communities through short-form, documentary-style storytelling. Our footage is raw, authentic interview style mixed with creative social ideas. As we develop our upcoming financed fictional feature film, Beneath the Rust is building our community through organic engagement across multiple social platforms. We’ve already begun sharing raw, authentic stories from the communities our feature film represents, now we’re looking for the right person to help us expand our mission.

Role Description

We’re looking for someone who understands both the creative and strategic sides of social editing, with experience creating content across multiple platforms. The right person can move fluidly between raw, interview-driven material and engaging creative posts that align with our often overlapping themes.

• Edit and produce short‑form videos that capture real people and honest emotion — interviews, town profiles, mini‑docs.
• Create platform‑specific content using our footage, photographs, and your own ideas to grow our community on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook.
• Shape pacing and tone using sound design, music, and captions to heighten emotion and clarity.
• Develop creative posts that align with the project’s themes, tone, and visual identity.

Who You Are

• Passionate about giving a voice to real people in underrepresented communities and ready to help shape the identity of a growing movement.
• Able to understand Beneath the Rust’s tone, pacing, emotion and can feel those rhythms while editing, pulling out moments that move people.
• Experienced in editing for social, with measurable growth or engagement on your past work — specifically social that tells a story.
• Skilled at shaping raw footage into powerful, short‑form narratives with emotional beats.
• Fluent in each platform’s tone, pacing, and audience nuance, and confident working independently.

Compensation: Pay will be based on your experience and scale of deliverables.
