Patch is in need of a qualified candidate in the region to help break local news to our readers in the towns of Walnut Creek, Lamorinda (Lafayette, Moraga, and Orinda), Healdsburg, Petaluma, Napa Valley, and Concord. Covering community news isn't just a job for you, it's a calling. You thrive on breaking down what’s happening at City Hall, main street businesses, and all the community stories in between.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Develop content for four to seven local news websites, ensuring coverage of important events, stories, and issues within your communities.
  2. Identify and cultivate sources within your communities to gather news and information effectively.
  3. Monitor for breaking news and report on urgent events as they happen.
  4. Promote content through social media platforms.
  5. Demonstrate strong writing and reporting skills.
  6. Proficiency in social media platforms and understanding of SEO principles to promote content and maximize audience engagement.
  7. An innate curiosity about local news and a passion for storytelling.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments.
