Elsevier’s Cell Press is seeking an Editor in Chief for Device, a journal launched in 2023 spanning applied physics, computer science, chemistry, biology, engineering and more. The role leads the editorial team and shapes the journal’s vision.

You will attract world‑class submissions, guide rigorous peer review, and collaborate across Cell Press operations and marketing. This position calls for strategic leadership and active engagement with researchers and institutions worldwide.

Qualifications

• Have proven research expertise across Device's scope.
• Have a broad network of international researchers within Device's scope.
• Able to think conceptually and critically about a wide range of scientific issues.
• Have proven organizational, project management, leadership, and teamwork skills.
• Display excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Extensive Editorial experience is valued.

Responsibilities

• Continues shaping the journal's aims, scope, priorities and formats for broader appeal.
• Manages the in-house editorial team and coordinates rigorous submission evaluation.
• Draws on a global network to attract world-leading article submissions.
• Traveling extensively to engage with the global research community and build networks.
• Develops partnerships with other editorial teams and Cell Press functions.
• Contributes to the overall publishing strategy of Cell Press.
