Job summary

Elsevier’s Cell Press is launching a field-shaping biotechnology journal. The Editor-in-Chief will lead the journal, drive its editorial vision, and manage an editorial team to ensure high-impact, rigorous research submissions from an international community.

The role offers flexibility in location (Boston, London, Amsterdam, Munich, Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen) and is a full-time editorial position with rolling applications. Strong industry network and editorial leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven biotechnology research expertise across the field.
• Broad international network of researchers and collaborators.

Responsibilities

• Define aims, scope, and formats for the journal to maximize impact and cohesion.
• Attract world-leading submissions through outreach to top researchers.
• Travel to engage with the research community and attend conferences.
• Recruit and manage in-house editorial team members and evaluate submissions.
• Collaborate with Cell Press editorial, operations, marketing, and press teams to shape publishing strategy.
