Questex is seeking an Editor to join the Fierce Biotech Team. You will edit daily biotech news, write features, and collaborate with the senior editor to shape coverage. You will help manage the Fierce Biotech newsletter and participate in events, moderating panels when needed.

The role requires 2-4 years in professional journalism with biotech coverage, strong editing skills, and a solid biotech understanding. A dynamic newsroom awaits with fast-paced deadlines and collaborative culture.

Qualifikationen

• 2-4 years of professional journalism experience, with experience covering biotech.
• Editing experience and the ability to confidently edit daily news stories on tight deadlines.
• Strong understanding of the biotech industry, including drug development, clinical trials, financing, dealmaking, regulation and the companies and people shaping the sector.
• Ability to report and write quickly without sacrificing accuracy, context or clarity.

• Edit daily biotech news stories, features and analysis for accuracy, clarity, structure and impact.
• Report and write your own daily news stories, features and other enterprise coverage.
• Work closely with the senior editor to set daily coverage priorities and identify the stories Fierce Biotech should own.
• Help manage the daily Fierce Biotech newsletter, including selecting and ordering stories, writing newsletter copy and ensuring it is ready to publish on deadline.
• Take the lead on daily editorial operations when the senior editor is away.
• Move quickly on breaking news while helping reporters identify smart follow-ups, broader trends and opportunities for deeper reporting.
• Help reporters sharpen story angles, strengthen reporting and develop their voices.
• Contribute to special reports, recurring editorial franchises and other newsroom initiatives.
• Participate in Fierce events, including moderating panels and interviews, helping develop editorial programming and representing the brand onstage.
• Collaborate with colleagues across Fierce Biotech, Fierce Pharma and the broader newsroom on major stories and projects.

• The ability to report and write quickly without sacrificing accuracy, context or clarity.
• Strong news judgment and an instinct for which developments matter most to Fierce Biotech’s audience.
• Experience working in a fast-moving digital newsroom.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills and a team-first approach.
• An interest in live journalism and the ability to moderate interviews or panel discussions in front of an industry audience.

The expected salary for this position ranges from $70,000 to $80,000. Salary offers are based on a broad scope of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market, geographic and organizational factors are also considered.
