Job summary

Questex’s Fierce Biotech team seeks an Editor to join a fast-paced newsroom in the United States. You will edit daily biotech news, write features, and help manage the Fierce Biotech newsletter with timely coverage.

Ideal candidates have 2–4 years of professional journalism, strong biotech knowledge, and the ability to meet tight deadlines while ensuring accuracy and clarity. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of professional journalism experience
• Editing experience and ability to confidently edit daily news stories on tight deadlines
• Strong understanding of the biotech industry including drug development, clinical trials, financing, dealmaking, regulation
• Ability to report and write quickly without sacrificing accuracy, context or clarity
• Strong news judgment and instinct for which developments matter most to Fierce Biotech’s audience
• Experience in a fast-moving digital newsroom
• Strong communication and collaboration skills and a team-first approach
• Interest in live journalism and moderating interviews or panel discussions

Responsibilities

• Edit daily biotech news stories, features and analysis for accuracy, clarity, structure and impact
• Report and write daily news stories and enterprise coverage
• Set daily coverage priorities with senior editor and identify stories Fierce Biotech should own
• Help manage the Fierce Biotech newsletter, selecting and ordering stories and ensuring timely publication
• Lead daily editorial operations when the senior editor is away
• Move quickly on breaking news and guide reporters to follow-ups and trends
• Help reporters sharpen story angles and develop their voices
• Contribute to special reports and newsroom initiatives
• Participate in Fierce events, moderating panels and interviews and representing the brand onstage
• Collaborate with colleagues across Fierce Biotech, Fierce Pharma and the broader newsroom
