ABOUT THE ROLE

The eDiscovery Analyst is a member of the firm’s Practice Solutions team within the Technology Innovation & Practice Solutions Department. The eDiscovery Analyst provides project management and technical support to members of the firm’s eDiscovery Team and the Matter Teams utilizing eDiscovery services. This is a Firmwide, full-time, non-exempt position and can be resident in our Austin, Dallas, or Houston office.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Primary Responsibilities

  • Deliver project management support to the eDiscovery Team and Matter Teams on matters involving eDiscovery, including monitoring deadlines, deliverables and dependencies.
  • Process data, create Relativity workspaces, batch documents, create search term reports, create productions, and other project management functions in Relativity.
  • Conduct the QC and completion of work requests.
  • Maintain protocols for project onboarding and closing, post-mortem reporting, and document retention and disposition activities.
  • Accurately track incoming projects and progress of same, and communicate regularly with matter teams.
  • Develop and maintain a functional and current understanding of defensible practices and industry guidance related to eDiscovery.
  • Support administrative processes related to service management including timekeeping and reporting.
  • Perform other administrative tasks and supporting-role duties as assigned and/or requested by the Senior eDiscovery Project Manager and the Senior Manager eDiscovery & Practice Support Technologies, including assisting with team coordination, matter support, reporting, documentation, and follow-up activities.
  • Learn new technologies and be able to deploy knowledge to assist managers and matter teams outside of standard eDiscovery platforms and workflows.
  • Develop and maintain a basic understanding of artificial intelligence technologies and assist with the administration, testing, and support of approved AI tools used by the Practice Solutions team and matter teams.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 2+ years of experience in a law firm or corporate legal environment (litigation or eDiscovery) preferred.
  • Must be proficient in Relativity and have database management experience. Relativity Certified Admin credentials preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of case management tools such as Opus2, Everchron, or CaseMap a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge of Agility Blue a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge of common general functionality and legal AI tools a plus but not required.
  • Certified E-Discovery Specialist (CEDS) Certification a plus.
  • Strong analytical and logic skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to interpret a variety of instructions provided in written or oral form.
  • Ability to work within timelines.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to handle a changing and growing workload.

  • Proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.

SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE

At the six-month mark, high performers can expect to be managing all technical aspects of their eDiscovery matters independently, and be working well with eDiscovery Counsel and other lawyers in the firm. A successful eDiscovery Analyst will understand the value of soft skills as well as technical skills, and be able to explain more complex concepts to lawyers in understandable ways. We expect a high level of cooperation with the entire eDiscovery team, and adherence to best practices.

HOW YOU'LL WORK

Extent of Contact

  • Extensive daily contact with lawyers, staff and colleagues across all firm offices.
  • Moderate of contact with clients.
  • Moderate to high degree of contact with eDiscovery Vendors
  • Daily contact with peers in the litigation support area.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift boxes of files weighing approximately 15 pounds.
  • Must be able to routinely lift and carry file folders weighing up to 5-10 pounds.
  • Must be able to spend long periods of time working at computer workstation.
  • Must be able to lift, squat, kneel and bend.

Working Conditions and Environment

  • This role may be hybrid and will require a minimum of three days per week (or at least 60%) present in the office, and up to two days per week (40%) may be performed remotely.
  • Position is full-time and requires a five-day work week and hours as established by your supervisor. Work may require more than the regularly scheduled hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.
  • Must be available to work additional hours, including weekend hours, when necessary to meet established deadlines or stay current with occasional peaks in workload. Must be willing to change regular work schedule to meet the needs of the firm.
  • Must be able to perform essential duties of the position with time constraints and frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to work well in high pressure environments.
