Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Distributed Systems Engineer to join the Data Localization team. You will build and operate edge-distributed systems with provable geographic boundaries, from edge policy enforcement to APIs and dashboards, using Go and Rust across the stack.

You’ll own end-to-end design and production readiness, focusing on reliability, scalability, and regulatory compliance for customers worldwide.

Qualifications

• 3+ years designing, building, and operating production distributed systems at scale.
• Proficiency in Go, Rust, or C/C++, with willingness to work in others as needed.
• Strong grasp of distributed systems fundamentals: consistency/consensus, replication, and latency tradeoffs.
• Experience with API design (REST/gRPC) and relational databases.
• Experience with asynchronous messaging or event streaming systems.
• On-call and incident response ownership and post-mortems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to write design documents.

Responsibilities

• Own design, implementation, rollout, and production operation of distributed systems at scale.
• Work across the full stack in Go and Rust, including edge policies and APIs.
• Collaborate across time zones with teams in security, product, and platform.
• Ensure compliance correctness and reliability in production systems.
• Focus on observability, failure handling, and performance optimization.
