Job summary

Mollie is evolving and you will lead the Edge & Network engineering team in Platform Engineering, owning global traffic management, security and connectivity for merchants. You will mentor engineers, align infrastructure with product needs and drive reliable, scalable platforms.

We seek a hands-on leader with deep networking expertise (Service Mesh, Load Balancing, Edge computing), cloud experience (GCP), and a platform‑as‑product mindset to empower developers and scale our network architecture

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading and scaling infrastructure or platform engineering teams in high-growth environments.
• Deep technical expertise in modern networking, including Service Mesh, Load Balancing, and Edge computing.
• Strong track record of managing distributed systems on public cloud providers, specifically GCP.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and a platform-as-a-product mindset to empower other developers.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex network architecture into clear business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale a high-performance Edge and Network platform that supports Mollie's transition to a multi-service financial ecosystem.
• Drive the evolution of our Service Mesh and global traffic routing to ensure 99.99% availability and seamless connectivity.
• Deliver a developer-centric internal platform that allows engineering teams to manage their own network requirements with zero friction.
• Lead and mentor a team of specialized engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous delivery.
• Optimize our edge security and WAF strategies to stay ahead of evolving threats while maintaining peak performance.
