Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Software Development Engineer II to own design and delivery of core subsystems for an edge-first fleet management platform. You will design systems that operate offline, reconcile state on reconnect, and enable OTA delivery of AI models across heterogeneous processors.

You will also build cloud-side services to orchestrate fleets of edge devices, mentor engineers, and shape the platform's technical direction as it scales to new device types.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Knowledge of full software development lifecycle practices (coding standards, reviews, CI/CD, testing).
• Strong Linux and systems-level debugging across hardware–software boundaries.
• Experience with distributed systems including state machines, idempotency, reconciliation, retries, and persistence.
• Ability to design offline-first and reconnect/reconcile behavior for edge systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate core subsystems of an edge-first fleet management platform.
• Develop cloud-side services that orchestrate and coordinate with fleets of edge devices.
• Build secure OTA delivery pipelines for AI models and software across heterogeneous topologies.
• Write and review high-performance production-quality code spanning OS, runtimes, networks, and devices.
• Author design documents and drive subsystems end-to-end from proposal to production.
• Define and uphold correctness guarantees for disconnected/reconnecting states.
• Participate in on-call rotation and drive root-cause fixes.
• Mentor junior engineers and raise engineering bar through reviews.
• Collaborate with product hardware and platform teams on requirements and integration points.
• Contribute to roadmap and architectural direction as platform scales.
