Fastly, Inc. in San Francisco, CA, invites you to join the API Services team as a Software Development Engineer.

You will implement features for high-throughput, globally distributed systems and work with GoLang, cloud providers, containers, and IaC to support our Control Plane. The role emphasizes collaboration, code reviews, on-call duties, and contributing to automation with Terraform, Jenkins, Kubernetes, and Chef.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of related development experience.
• Working knowledge of GoLang with desire to build deeper hands-on expertise.
• Exposure to cloud providers (AWS, GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (Terraform).
• Good understanding of core engineering concepts within your functional area.
• Able to execute on features that interact with neighboring applications or services.
• Growing understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture.
• Comfortable taking on well-scoped projects with support from senior teammates.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Implement projects and features that require interaction with neighboring systems, working across groups to solve issues and implement changes.
• Contribute to and facilitate team discussions, respecting and incorporating differing opinions.
• Provide useful design and code review feedback to teammates.
• Contribute to core infrastructure and platform needs using Terraform, Jenkins, Kubernetes, and Chef.
• Help evolve manual tasks into more reliable, automated systems.
• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teammates.
• Help onboard and support new team members.
• Take the lead in solving problems of diverse scope with guidance from seniors.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.
