Job summary

Virginia Department of Transportation is seeking entry-level engineers for the EDGE Program, a 15- to 24-month training track across civil engineering disciplines. You will develop technical and leadership skills while contributing to real projects in a structured format.

During year one you rotate through various civil engineering functions and year two you gain specialization in your focus area. Successful completion leads to placement aligned with workforce needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or ABET-accredited program by start.
• Pass the FE exam and obtain the EIT designation within 12 months.
• Knowledge of construction and maintenance contract policies.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to apply engineering knowledge to complete projects.

Responsibilities

• Support multiple civil engineering disciplines through EDGE rotations.
• Perform field inspections and project documentation during Construction.
• Develop behavioral competencies and report progress.
• Rotate across maintenance, design, traffic, planning, and residency operations.
