Job summary

Nickerson Talent Solutions seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer to deploy and integrate AI solutions in real-world customer environments. This hands-on role spans software, Linux, networking, edge hardware, sensors, data systems, and AI to take solutions from problem definition through production deployment and troubleshooting.

You will travel 25-50% to customer sites, own end-to-end deployments, collaborate with customers, and build reusable deployment playbooks while documenting lessons learned

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and operating production software or systems.
• Strong Linux and production troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with Python and/or Go, shell scripting, and REST/gRPC APIs.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong networking knowledge, including VPNs, TLS, firewalls, Wi‑Fi, LTE/5G, and network troubleshooting.
• Customer-facing deployment or field engineering experience.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and ownership mindset.
• Willingness to travel 25-50%.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end deployment of customer-facing AI and edge solutions.
• Work directly with customers and partners to understand requirements and deliver measurable results.
• Deploy and operate systems involving Linux, Docker/Kubernetes, networking, sensors, connectivity, and AI inference.
• Integrate customer OT/IT systems, APIs, data sources, and workflows.
• Troubleshoot issues across hardware, networking, data, applications, and AI.
• Build scripts, tools, configurations, and reusable deployment playbooks.
• Document lessons learned and help improve future deployments.
