Job summary

OpenAI's Hardware organization is building AI-native silicon and system-level solutions. This Infrastructure Software Engineer role focuses on designing and scaling cloud infrastructure, HPC environments, CI/CD pipelines, and developer workflows that accelerate OpenAI's custom silicon development across the full hardware lifecycle.

You will build developer tools, automate workflows, design large-scale regression systems, and operate cloud infrastructure to optimize capacity and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering fundamentals with Python or similar language.
• Deep Linux knowledge including processes, filesystems, networking and performance.
• Experience designing, deploying, and operating cloud infrastructure.
• Hands-on CI/CD experience with Jenkins, Buildkite, GitHub Actions or similar.

Responsibilities

• Build developer tools and workflows that automate hardware engineering processes.
• Design, implement, and operate large-scale regression systems for scheduling and reporting.
• Build and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and tooling.
• Design and operate cloud infrastructure and HPC clusters, optimizing capacity and cost.
• Develop data pipelines and observability to monitor regression results and resource use.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and build resilient systems.
