Job summary

Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital’s Emergency Department is hiring a Unit Secretary/Nursing Tech to support nursing staff with secretarial duties and act as a communication hub. Responsibilities include patient monitoring, IV initiation under supervision, wound care, phlebotomy after training, bed-side testing, and routine clerical tasks using EMR.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Specialized training in basic patient care (CNA/MA) or at least 6 months of direct patient care experience in a hospital setting, EMT, or scribe.
• Receives on-the-job training and competency verification.

Responsibilities

• Greet and direct customers; promote accurate unit communication.
• Answer phones and process information; redirect calls as needed.
• Monitor patients and document vitals; transport and record actions.
• Assist with venous access, phlebotomy after training.
• Apply splints/casts and perform bedside tests (ECG, Glucometry, urinalysis).
• Sutures/wound care under supervision; assist with dressing changes and surgery prep.
• Support nutrition through tray delivery and patient setup; assist with intake needs.
• Administer oxygen under supervision; assist with oxygen storage.
